Stepping Hill Hospital
Patients and visitors to Stepping Hill Hospital are able to take advantage of a number of new bus services offering easier access to the hospital site. The 307, 308, 317, 375, 390 and 394 services all run to Stepping Hill, using the new access road through the hospital grounds, linking Poplar Grove and Bramhall Moor Lane.
The improved bus services come as a result of joint consultation between Stepping Hill Hospital, GMPTE, Stockport Council and Stagecoach Manchester, and are part of an on-going programme of improvements in bus services to the hospital site. Whilst the 317 service, operated by Stagecoach Manchester, has been extended with funding from Stockport Council, the other services are all financially supported by Greater Manchester Passenger Transport Authority.
Stockport NHS Foundation Trust has adopted a comprehensive Travel Plan which aims to improve access to the hospital site by promoting and improving public transport services and renewing maps and directional signage based on a colour-coded zoning system. It also aims to provide transport advice and information to staff, patients and visitors, improve the management of limited car parking and promote healthy travel options such as walking and cycling where feasible. The Board of Directors has recently approved the second stage of the Travel Plan, 2005-2007.
The following daytime services run through Stepping Hill Hospital grounds:
307/308 Stockport - Cheadle Hulme - Bramhall - Hazel Grove - Stepping Hill - Stockport Circulars (Speedwell Travel, Monday to Saturday, hourly frequency).
317 Ashton - Denton - Dane Bank - Stockport - Offerton Estate - Stepping Hill - Hazel Grove (Stagecoach, Monday to Saturday, 30 minute frequency).
375 Stockport - Stepping Hill - Bosden Farm - Marple - Mellor (Stagecoach, Monday to Saturday, 30 minute frequency).
390 Stockport - Offerton - Stepping Hill - Poynton - Bramhall (Speedwell Travel, Monday to Saturday, 2 hourly frequency).
394 Glosop - Gamesley - Marple - Hazel Grove - Stepping Hill (Speedwell Travel, Monday to Saturday, hourly frequency).
These services will operate via the new access road linking Poplar Grove and Bramhall Moor Lane.
173 Manchester - Reddish - Stockport - Stepping Hill (JP Travel, Monday to Saturday, hourly frequency)
192 Manchester - Levenshulme - Stockport - Stepping Hill (Stagecoach, Magic Bus, Monday to Saturdays, 10 min frequency).
